Chemical and Biochemical Properties of Oxisols after Sewage Sludge Application for 16 Years Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Yada,Marcela Midori; Melo,Wanderley José de; Mingotte,Fábio Luiz Checchio; Melo,Valéria Peruca de; Melo,Gabriel Maurício Peruca de.
ABSTRACT The large production of sewage sludge (SS), especially in large urban centers, has led to the suggestion of using this waste as fertilizer in agriculture. The economic viability of this action is great and contributes to improve the environment by cycling the nutrients present in this waste, including high contents of organic matter and plant nutrients. This study evaluated the chemical and biochemical properties of Dystrophic and EutroferricLatossolos Vermelhos (Oxisols) under corn and after SS application at different rates for 16 years. The field experiment was carried out in Jaboticabal, São Paulo State, Brazil, using a randomized block design with four treatments and five replications. Treatments consisted of control - T1 (mineral...

METROC : évaluation des apports de contaminants chimiques de la métropole marseillaise au milieu marin ArchiMer
Jany, Cassandre; Zebracki, Mathilde.
METROC program (part of the MEDICIS program about study and fate of the chemical contamination in Western Mediterranean Sea) focuses on sources and wastes issued by large metropolis, with the agglomeration of Marseille as a pilot site. This report presents the results of a sampling campaign in rivers and urban discharges in Marseille and on different types of contaminants (metals, PAH, PCB and PBDE) in dissolved and particulate phases, in dry and rain periods. Results show that concentrations of pollutants are greater in Aygalades river (metals and organic contaminants) and in Emissaire 2, sewer overflows and torrents. From the results of the analysis and discharge given by the DEA, we estimated partially the flows of pollutants which show that the first...

Sanitary landfill leachate as a source of nutrients on the initial growth of sunflower plants AGRIAMBI
Nunes Júnior,Francisco H.; Gondim,Franklin A.; Pereira,Magnum de S.; Braga,Brennda B.; Pontes Filho,Roberto A.; Barbosa,Francisca E. L..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the initial growth of sunflower seedlings under different concentrations of sanitary landfill leachate, considering the feasibility of its use as source of nutrients for agricultural production. Biometric and vigor variables were analyzed through the measurements of collar diameter, shoot height, number of leaves and shoot and root fresh and dry matters, from January to February 2015. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 5 x 4 factorial scheme: five leachate concentrations (0, 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg N ha-1) x four harvest periods (14, 21, 25 and 29 days after sowing), with five replicates each containing two plants. The data were subjected to analysis of variance and polynomial regression, and...

Urban solid waste in the production of Lafoensia pacari seedlings AGRIAMBI
Abreu,Alan H. M. de; Marzola,Leticia B.; Melo,Lucas A. de; Leles,Paulo S. dos S.; Abel,Elton L. S.; Alonso,Jorge M..
ABSTRACT This study aimed to verify the potential of urban solid wastes as substrate for production of seedlings of Lafoensia pacari. Five treatments were tested, four with solid wastes and one standard substrate, namely: sewage sludge from Alegria Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP); sewage sludge from Ilha do Governador WTP; sewage sludge from Sarapuí WTP; domestic garbage compost (Fertlurb); and a commercial substrate made of biostabilized pine bark (standard substrate). The wastes received 20% (in volume) of shredded coconut fiber. At 105 days after sowing, the seedlings were evaluated for different quality parameters. Seedlings produced with Sarapuí WTP sewage sludge showed the best results in all the parameters, followed by seedlings produced with...
